Honoring African and African American Heritage

This event honors graduating high school seniors, college graduates and those graduates who have enlisted or commissioned into one of the branches of the Armed Forces as their post-secondary pathway plan by August 2025, with a focus on African and African American heritage.

At the ceremony, all graduates will receive a Kente cloth, which is a traditional cloth worn during ceremonies in Ghana to represent pride in one’s heritage and accomplishments. To be eligible for a Kente cloth, you must be a 2025 graduate and participate in the graduation ceremony. Additionally, to receive an honors medal or be eligible for a scholarship, you must provide transcripts demonstrating your grades, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher by April 11, 2025.
